Sacred Me Series began after creating a mindfulness counseling program for children in a school where I was a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I wanted fun quirky  images of black children embodying the peace and love that they are, but could not find many. Years later, despite not being an artist, I ended up drawing my own. Those images were spotted by an Acquisition Editor at North Atlantic Books, and they became My Heart Flies Open Book.  The series now has a part two, and I continue to add to it. I believe those images represent the sacred child that exist within us all.  Ps...I also realized the series may have begun much earlier when I began painting images of the Black Goddess across cultures.  As a previous Artist in Residence for Asheville City School's TAPAS I have taught thousands of children how to do their own emotionally liberating and fun yoga art.
